Sunflower

Published by raesmom under Nature Photos Edit This

Behold! I have grown something from a seed. This is quite a break from the past since I usually kill plants and seeds never sprout. So this is exciting for me. I like how the bug even showed up really well in this picture as I wasn’t sure it would.

Backyard Birds

It’s so fun to peak out into the yard. We usually catch at least one bird fluttering around. Thank goodness for the telephoto lens to be able to capture them.

Where did spring go?

Published by raesmom under Nature Photos Edit This

Old man winter has been trying to cut into spring’s territory. Some cold weather have moved in this week - making it unpleasant to take a nature walk. But have no fear. The temperature is expected to rise significantly by the end of the week.

I think this butterfly is a painted lady. Last year we had gotten some caterpillars and watched them turn into painted ladies. So I like to think that this little guy is one of their descendants. I love taking wide photos of butterflies. How the butterfly is in focus but everything else is soft.

Hopefully the cool snap didn’t ruin spring. I’m definitely ready to take more nature pictures.

Walk around the yard

Published by raesmom under Nature Photos Edit This

Yesterday was a weird weather day but in the south we have grown to accustomed to it. There is a saying that if you don’t like the weather then wait 15 minutes. It was really humid most of yesterday but finally cooled off around 4pm. I decided to take a walk and then quickly went back to get my digital camera after spotting these on the azaleas -

So two of my favorite nature subjects - flowers and butterflies - combined. Taking a walk with the digital camera especially with that huge telephoto lens is like walking with a small weight. Hopefully it burns a few calories. If not at least I get some beautiful pictures to enjoy when it’s not so pleasant to be outside.

Spring

Published by raesmom under Nature Photos Edit This

Again my love of taking pictures of flowers takes over. This year it seems there are more wild flowers that I remember in recent years. Also I’ve noticed more flowers in the local store, too.

I usually like to touch up photos taken of flowers but since I’ve switched laptops, I don’t have access to all of my programs any more.

Adding flower pictures to your blog posts can visually enhance it and keep pique visitor’s interest. Flowers can be posted on a variety of topics like garden, planting, allergies, and any other subject related to spring.

Taking the digital spring photos is the most rewarding part as it gives me a chance to enjoy the nice weather.

Bird Watching

Published by raesmom under Nature Photos Edit This

Spring time is the right time for bird watching. I just have to step out onto my porch to hear the birds chirping and see them scratching for food. I was taking some photos the other day that made me thankful for my telephoto lens but really makes me think I need a more powerful one.

This was about as close as I could get to this fine bird. This was still about 25-30 feet away if I had to guess. I was getting as close as the bird was going to let me so I definitely would like a more powerful lens. My telephoto lens is 70-300 mm. My next one will be in the range of 500 - 1000 mm.

Spring is a glorious time to take digital photos. All the flowers in bloom and the birds in the air. It’s definitely inspirational.

Flower Photography

One of the great joys of spring is all the flowers that are in full bloom. I love to photograph flowers. It makes all the exposure to pollen worth it to be able to photograph such beauty.

If I could become a flower photographer, I would. I’m not sure if there would be a demand for it but it would be a wonderful job.

Winder Wonderland

Published by raesmom under Nature Photos Edit This

Winter in the south is a mix bag of extremely cold days sandwiched between unseasonably warm days. Winder landscapes are less than stellar since snow(those years we actually see it) lasts about a day or possibly two.

These photos of the 50 beautiful Winter Wonderlands are a sight to see. There are some stunning digital photos that really show the power of digital editing and using advance settings.

They are just absolutely beautiful. It’s a nice distraction from the holiday crowds that’s for sure.
